well, if you've already realized that it's disturbing ur life and that u wanna cut back, that's a great step already!!

next, what i found helpful was:
1. don't tell urself u have to stop for long periods of time. like tell urself if u do ur work for an hour u earn 10min of surfin... or whatever time amounts work for u- just give the work time long enough so you get 'into it' that u can actually accomplish
2. if u can't control urself during work time, unplug/disconnect- depending on how ur device works. (i shut the wireless modem but if others share it with u that might not work. or if its on ur phone or s/th, u'll have to figure something else out....)
3. if u just wanna stop but don't have work to do, u'll have to find something else to do in that time, otherwise its much more difficult... (like they say, if u stop generating light, it gets dark...)

gluck!
let us know how it goes...

Is the computer in your room or in a central place in the house?
Can you draft someone at home to make sure you finished your homework before getting on?

one computer in center of house, other in different room but not mine. My mother can say whatever she wants but if I'm drawn to the computer, I'll be on! And my father's never on! It just hit me because last night I really didn't study much for a very hard test cuz I was busy looking at garbage!

i also find myself spending too much time on the computer. for me, i realized that it's because I'm a perfectionist with my schoolwork, so i try to push it off to the last minute in order to avoid studying too much. i distract myself by playing on the internet.

what i found helpful was to focus on studying just enough, and trying to complete that amount of studying. then, if i wish to study more, i'll do more. but when i start out, i focus on just studying enough to get by.

don't know if this is your problem, but good luck either way!
