hi,
sorry for not responding earlier, I didn't come on here in a while.
Yomim Tovim were tough. Glad it's over, and trying to settle down now.
How was it for you?
Over Yom Tov I came across an article in the Ami where Rabbi Taub writes something in the name of a Dr. Hodaya - a psychiatrist in the Washington D.C. area, who has a holistic approach to mental disorders, which might be if interest to you. He wrote the following:
"Inflammation in the body - caused by activation of the immune system and/or suppressed production of stress hormones - results in changes in brain chemistry. These changes in brain chemistry can result in OCD or depression. Much of the immune system (as much as 60%) is around the gastrointestinal tract; therefore, infections of the intestinal tract (e.g., yeast infections, parasites, chronic bacterial infections), or even food allergies can contribute to the development of OCD. Other infections in the body (e.g., chronic sinus infections, strep infection) are also known to precipitate OCD."
It's interesting, because I'm prone to inflammation, and in the past I had allergies/intolerances, gastrointestinal problems, and also psoriasis (inflammation of the skin).Text
