Are there any signs to know if your child has CF. If yes what are they? How early can you see them?

I don't know the answer, but have you done a google search for CF? I think there is a tremendous amount of information out there.

These days they have included the CF testing when they do the PKU screening when a baby is born. Many babies are not getting diagnosed soon after birth, even before symptoms are present.
Symptoms can include multiple pneumonia, chronic bronchitis/chronic cough. large fatty stools due to malabsorbtion/ failure to thrive.
Don't freak out yet, as many other things cause these same symptoms. The testing process is pretty painless. They usually do a sweat test which involved wrapping a non painful band on the childs wrist. They stimulate the sweat and then 1-1.5 hours later they remove it and test the sweat they excrete from the band. CF patients will have a high sodium level. (salt) The skin of CF patients sometimes can taste salty if you lick or kiss the child.
good luck.

I don't think testing positive for PKU means CF. I think she meant that the tests were just done at the same time.

The sweat test is really the goldmark test. Did they do a sweat test?

Also, there are over 1000 genes responsible for cystic fibrosis at this point. Did they do the updated genetic testing?

The mother is scared to do a sweat test and was tested herself about 11 months before she gave birth
