my wife has been diagnosed with indolent B cell non-Hodgekins lymphoma and has had her spleen removed. She has just started a low dose oral chemotherapy. There are now tumors near the pancreas (chunky) and other organs. There are 'spots' on the lungs but these have not been confimed as tumours by two separate hospital depts even though she is a 54 year old smoker. The consultants seem very unsure about the lungs and refuse to tell her to stop smoking. They say 5-10 a day will make no difference. Is this normal medical practice? Should I seek a further opinion. The hospitals concerned are large NHS hospitals in the UK with well know specialists. I could seek private consultations at great expense.

She needs to stop smoking while she is getting chemotherapy. The abnormalities in the lungs need to be clarified. Perhaps seeing a lung specialist would be a good idea. A second opinion if you have never had one is also a good idea.

hi! so about 2 years ago i found out i had a tumor growing on my right knee muscle, i forgot the name of the specific muscle but i know its the 1 on the left sight of the knee and its part of the hamstring.... anyway so my 1st surgery they removed the tumor and biopsyed it and it was benign, and they said it shouldnt grow back.... not even 3 weeks later i was back at the dr it had grown back twice the size... so they went back in and decided to remove a chunk of the muscle since thats what it was growing on... the recovery was so hard not only did i have major surgery but i was missing part of the muscle so they pulled the 2 aattatched parts together and sewed it up so i had like a permanent pulled muscle!!! anyway last year i spent in israel and it came back on the other muscle... i decided id leave it be since its not spreading and ill take care of it meaning keep my knee wrapped so the tumor wont get irritated and what not.... well today i was walking and it just started hurting.... its like on a scale of 1-10 1 being almost no pain 10 being go to the ER its about a 6-7... i came home and wrapped it, i iced it so the swelling would go down, cuz my knee is currently 2x the size of the other1... but besides for literaly staying off of it for 2 weeks and keeping it wrapped and iced i dontk now what else to do and i dont have a dr i can see right now cuz im currently uninsured and my dr is halfaway accross the country.... so if u have any suggestions i would greatly appreciate them..... thanx a ton.....
