my mom has alzheimers and i have 24/7 live-in care for her for the past six months. Most of it has been going fairly smoothly. but in the past 10 days she has had 2 episodes where she starts yelling at the aide to get out of her house, she says she doesnt know her and doesnt need her and can live alone on her own. she yells and screams and threatens to hurt her. the first time my mom called her neighbors to try to get the aide out. everyone tried to calm her. the episode passed in about 2 hours. it happened again a week later. i had the aide lock all the doors and hide the keys, then told her to take a walk outside to let her calm down. it did pass, but its very upsetting. she is on medication but obviously needs something more. i spoke to her on the phone, but she only yelled at me. i dont know what to do??? she is homebound so its very difficult to take her out to a neurologist. i have a dr that comes to the house for regular exams.
any advice? i am an only child, doing all the caregiving - the finances, groceries, dr appts, meds, etc and am so overwhelmed. thanks
