Can people please let me know what their experience is with DBT? In what setting have you done DBT? Did you like it, hate it, etc.? What types of things did you do in DBT?

Thanks guys!

I have tried two DBT therapists whom I did not like. I did a DBT group which was nice for the support but I did not find it too helpful.
I learned the most by reading the DBT skills workbook and practicing the exercises in it. Such as one called Emotion Exposure, picturing the emotion as a wave while breathing deeply etc. One therapist gave me a chart to fill out daily, about how intense each emotion is that day.
Also in IOP we watched a video of Marsha Linehan, the founder of DBT, explaining some skills. I think you can buy them online. So basically I did find the book helpful, but not the people teaching it.
