I just called to make an appointment. Turned out he died suddenly of a heart attack!! He was a good doctor. He actually took the time to listen to me. I liked him! I feel bad that I am selfishly upset about not being able to see him any more instead of being sad for his family. Although I don't even know if he had a family.

I made an appointment with someone else who's filling in for him. She better be good.

It's normal to have mixed feelings.

In fact, I think that it says that if someone's relative passed away ch"v, and the mourner inherited money, that he can make two blessings. One blessing (Boruch Dayan emes) for the sad news, and another blessing (Hatoiv vihameitiv) thanking G-g for the inheritance.

Feeling upset that he won't be there to listen is actually giving him credit for the good things he did. So in a way, it's honouring his memory, and is an added merit for him.

That's one of my biggest fears even though my pdoc is middle age. I'm so sorry! That's really rough.

Hopeful Mom, So sorry this happened!
And I don't think it's selfish to have those thoughts ESPECIALLY not for a doctor where it's by definition a one way relationship.

I know you'll get over this just like you've gotten over other hurdles..
