Do any of you ever get really upset at your therapist?

A few weeks ago I was feeling anxiety so I emailed my therapist she responded I should go to the emergency room or call 911.

I was so hurt and felt rejected and then I felt stupid for caring so much it feels childish.

She ended up apologizing but I still feel stupid about the whole thing. I wish I didn't care.

Did you ever have a similar experience? How'd you handle it?

That reaction is so, so normal. I've felt hurt and rejected countless times. One of the many things I hated about therapy. Try to remember that you're a wonderful, special, worthy person, and no matter what someone may do or say, that won't change.

Ok so I'm not crazy? I was so ashamed of my neediness (is that a word?) at least I'm not the only one!
Thanks for sharing!

My therapist told me that too once. It felt disappointing and rejecting a bit.

Neediness (it is a word ) is nothing to be embarrassed of. It's what makes us human.

I believe we all crave connection, and for someone who has never received it in healthy way, it's normal to feel needy in a relationship. Especially in a therapist - client relationship.
