Its a pretty common condition, especially for us, so i wondered who else out there had it and wanted to start a conversation about how they cope with it, as its Chronic, and pretty horrible at times. What meds do you take and have they helped? Apparently its rare to be fully successful in recovery, and I can vouch for that, Its hard and I cant seem to get the medication right?
Anyway, if anyone else has it, Id be interested to hear what therapy helped you. Ive now been recommended Acceptance and Commitment therapy which did help when I felt a touch better but since the stress of pesach started, my ocd has gone from strength to strenght

Started on Paxil but then been through all the ssri's over 14 years now from tomorrow back on Paxil with some anafranil as my OCD been real bad last few weeks. Paxil was good for me but I stopped due to side effects. Let's hope it works again and I can handle those side effects
Prozac was good for me when I started it but it then it just tapered off but it is a good med
OCD is hard to medicate but luckily so many options even with antipsychotics which are not as scary as they sound
OCD stress is worse than any side effect in my opinion

I have been looking at posts from last year on Yomum Noraim and unfortunately
it seems to be very similar to this year. I having a hard time with my OCD (halachaic)

I also tried to read up on Acceptance and Commitment therapy.

B'H' I now have a new grandson and the bris is soon.
My son wants me to speak at the bris which normally would not be an issue.
However, now it is just adding to my stress.
Any advice or encouragement (not re-assurance) would be appreciated.
Anyone willing to communicate outside of the group, send me a PM.

Can you back out of this? Or is it something you must do?

I was taught that you (almost) never run from your fears with OCD.
It just makes things worse. The main goal is the minimize the control OCD
has over our lives. We can't control OCD but it should not control us.

Anyway, the bris is over and the speech was OK.
I spoke slowly and all of the anxiety disappeared as soon as
I reached the podium.
I now have a beautiful littl grandson named after my father.

Mazel tov!! Lots of nachas from all your children and grandchildren!

I also find, with anxiety, that it's often worse before the event that triggers it than during the actual event.

Gmar chasima tova!

I had a setback this morning and I am very depressed.
Woke up early 5:30 and stayed in bed.
Could not get my OCD out of my mind.
I wish I could talk to someone.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Sorry you're having a hard time. This too shall pass. Don't know if that's much comfort though. But it always gets better. Eventually. Would it help to think of other times when you felt low and then felt better?
