I have seen alot of mesages about support for children & adults with ADD/ADHD in the Jewish community.

I live in NYC.

I have searched high & low for any Jewish Org that might offer support.

I haven't found one.

There are several Org's that help those with more severe mental health issues.

The OU has several programs.

The problem comes down to money. Most programs qualify for some sort of Gov funding.

From speaking with a number of clinicians, I can tell you that they all agree that the need is there.

More & more Jewish adults & adults who have children are looking for help.
They are often frustrated, because they can't find one Jewish Org that wil help adults in the NY Metro area.

I belong to the Manhattan Adult ADD Support Group (http;//www.maaddsg.org)

Although it's non-sectarian, alot of Jewish adults come t oour meetings.

I have seen alot of Orthodox people at the meetings as well.

And that brings me to a very sensitive subject that I will touch on here..

Consider it my opening a can of worms...

Alot of Jewish adults (who have AD/ADHD) feel betrayed by the Religion because of the lack of compassion they see from Rabbi's they g oto for help.

At some meetings, I'd estimate that 35-50% of the attendees are non-practicing Jewish people.

FYI.. we get anywhere from 30-75 people at our group meetings.

Could you provide an example or two (without mentioning names of course) of how a Rabbi didn't show compassion? (It would seem that this is something that needs medical help, but I guess a Rabbi's understanding is also important. But I just wonder what the scenario would be.)
