I have ADD/ADHD. I see how it effects my life my ability to run my home, my relationship with my husband and children. I wanted to know if there are other women here with ADD. Do you have these issues and how do you deal with them? I have tried basically all the medications out there and they nearly killed me so i m off of them. I just want to hear how are others coping or what are you doing to cope? Also is there a website for frum women with ADD?

Thank you.

If you send me a message I will daven for you.

I can relate to your difficulties.

Do you mind me asking, but did you get evaluated and diagnosed from a professional? I need an evaluation but I don't know how to do this. It seems for some reason that medicaid doesn't cover this. or am I mistaken?

I have adhd, and, as is common, depression/anxiety is added to the adhd. I connect with frum women online with a website called imamother dot com, and they have a mental health forum, with an adhd thread. The community there is 'talking' about another internet support for adhd called 'flylady'. I never checked it out. I'm taking wellbutrin for depression and adhd. My adhd hurts my marriage, because my hyper-activity manifests itself by my compulsion to interupt my husband. (And everybody else.) I'm resigned that it makes it almost impossible for me to finish a task, which in turn, makes me an undesirable employee. I don't know how it affected my mothering. (Kids are grown.) If I can raise my self-esteem/self-confidence I might be able to cultivate part-time jobs using my hands. 'bye

I don't know if I have ADD/ADHD but my husband and one of my kids have been diagnosed with it. I am commenting only because you mentioned "Flylady" and I have to say that as a person who is not naturally organized, and I always feel overwhelmed by clutter, Flylady is a great help for anyone who needs to focus on getting things in control. She's great because she's humorous and keeps you interested, doesn't make you feel inadequate, makes you feel like EVERYONE needs this kind of help! And does it in an easy - just 15 minutes at a time - bite size approach. I recommend it for anyone, and it makes sense to me that someone with ADD would benefit from it as well.
