for the past three days i have been experiencing lower back pain (the lowest part of the back - on both ends there is a muscle/bone which is are the points of pain). it feels very bruisy around the area, and especially when i sit down. i haven't been sitting that much, so i doubt that is the cause of the pain. it gets worse when i try to go to sleep at night, and then i'm trying to find a comfortable position to lay so it's not as painful. what are the possible causes of lower back pain? i once heard that it could be related to the liver or kidneys (i don't remember which one) - is that true?

I have lower bck pain.
It doesnt seem to be that bad...compared to yours.
But i think a series of small excersies can help that.

I know a lot about pain. The pain you are describing sounds like inflammation of the bursa with is located near the sit bones. We also have bursa's on the top of the thigh, but you do not describe pain on your side. Go to a Physical Medicine and Rehab. or Pain Management doctor affiliated with one of the teaching hospitals. NYU, Hospital for Special Surgery, etc. Write again if you have any questions.
