There are different ways to repair a torn eardrum.

In the acute phase, -either after trauma or a burst ear drum
from an infection (like those seen in kids) - one usually does
nothing, or places a paper patch over the tear to encourage it to heal.

If there is a tear longer than 3 months, I would get a hearing test
and maybe even a CT scan - depending on the clinical presentation.

There are 2 basic ways to repair a torn eardrum - either through the
ear canal directly or from behind the ear. Each method has advantages and
disadvantages depending on the situation.

Hope this helps!
