Dr. Novogroder:

I have type II diabetes and I take glipizide, actos and metformin. I also used to take Januvia, but my doctor suggested I stop this and instead replaced it with Victoza (up to 1.8 mg now). I know that this a relatively new medication and the experience with it is limited. My physician is surprised that the Victoza does not seem to be working as well as the Januvia did -- she said she expected it to work better.

Have you had any experience with this drug? I have been injecting it for about 3 months now -- might it take longer than this to have full effect?
Is it possible that a switch to Byetta or a return to Januvia might be wise?

Thanks for any info you can provide
