i am interested to know if there is anyone out there who suffers from codependency or other shame based illness and how they cope with it ,more specifically the former

Try Codependents Anonymous. Look them up on the internet. Most 12 step meetings like these, have face to face, phone meetings and internet meetings. Good Luck!

what do you mean by a disease that is "shamed based?"

it means that the basis for your dysfunctional behavior or thoughts originate from a shame core ,everything just revolves around you feeling shameful about yourself ,just a bad person.i have read from john bradshaw that there is evidence that borderline disorder is also based on shame
