Hi all,
My 8 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with strep. She was prescribed
cefzin which didn't seem to work so the doctor switched her to
zithromax. He also told us to give her melatonin to help her get to sleep earlier.
It has been 7 days since the zitrhomax started and her throat is better however she is
still very pale adn cranky. Me and my wife are quite concerned that
her color has not returned and she doesn't seem 100% herself. Could
the pale skin be from the melatonin or the zithromax. Any help or
support is much appreciated. Thanks.

I am not familiar with either Zithromax or Melatonin so I cannot tell you if it can be from either of them. However, when I a child I used to get strep often. One time I went for a reculture which came back negative but did not get back to myself. After having blood work done it was discovered that the strep infection was still in my blood. I was put on penicillin for 30 days and it went away.

Is it possible that the strep is not compeltly gone.

Refuah Shleimah,
