Hello I feel really desperate.
I feel ignored by my psychiatrist since this really is an emergency.

Hi Mimi if you're feeling this bad and intend
to kill yourself you need to go to the hospital
even if you don't want to to get your meds straightened
out. If it's a matter of life and death u must go get help!!!!
We need you here so please please please go to the ER.
You can try calling your doctor again but if you don't get a
response then go!

Like I said, I have no health insurance and if I go I will be responsible for thousands of dollars worth of medical care.

I appreciate your help, though.

Best always,
Mimi

hi mimi, just want you to know I'm praying for you. I was just in a similar situation on friday and suddenly my life got a little better due to more support from family members. Light may be just around the corner for you. But I know how crazy painful it is now. Keep us posted please.

What medications and dosages are you currently taking? What changes do you feel will help you feel better? Consider finding a new psychiatrist who is more responsive to your needs. If you go to the emergency room, you can refuse to sign the paper holding you responsible for payment. The hospital is obligated to treat you by law if you have a true emergency and cannot legally withhold emergency treatment due to inability to pay. The hospital gets payment for treating the uninsured from a state uncompensated care fund. Let me know how you make out.

If you are in the New York area, Four Winds or Cornell can provide for all your Pesach needs.

Thank you so much for all of your support to everyone who replied. It means so much to me.
I'm doing better and will be evaluated for an inpatient stay later today.

Thanks so much again.

Four Winds IS a hotel on Miami Beach. But in Westchester County, New York it is a private psychiatric facility.

who knows, maybe they're both owned and operated by the same person... and if as the name suggests, the hotel and psychiatric facilitiy provide similar services, maybe it's not such a bad idea to spend a Pesach there... it's hard not to be tempted at this time of the year...

Thanks so much everyone.

In order to lift my depression during Pesach, I decided to be a full time volunteer at HASC for all of Pesach. Helping special needs children is very fulfilling. Now I don't feel the need to kill myself. Helping them gives me a reason to live

Is it hard to do while depressed?
What does the job actually entail?

Hi Momo

Volunteering keeps me so busy all day I don't even think about depression. It's a really good drug-free way to feel good!
