I just also posted this on the therapy site. If its okay to repost here this is the situation.
My therapist recommended mindfulness meditation for depression. I looked into this a little bit and found that this originally comes from Buddhism but is currently practiced in main stream western medicine. So I am not sure whether is would be halachically acceptable or not and I am not comfortable to speak to a Rav because I'm embarrassed. Any suggestions....

I have heard from poskim that it is fine as a medical procedure for your health. The religious origins have been removed from the therapy. Let me know if you encounter any problems with this.

Thanks I was looking into buying the following two resources online, are you familiar with "The Mindful Way Through Depression: Freeing Yourself from Chronic Unhappiness" by Mark Williams and
"Mindfulness Meditation: Cultivating the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind" (CD-Audio)
By (author) Jon Kabat-Zinn
Just checking to see if the you knew if these are good in your option and if the religious origins have been removed.

I have not read those books per se but I doubt that there is any narishkeit left in those books.
