Hi,

I'm having health issues. I am diabetic but now have gotten blood pressure problems and very high heart rate. Basically my blood pressure drops drastically when I stand up and my heart rate is very quick. My Synthroid needs to be highered but he doesn't want to higher it because it'll make my heart rate even higher... my doctor thinks it's my psych meds specifically the lithium. As far as I know my psychiatrist doesn't want to take me off it but my dr spoke to her so now I don't know... I know shes afraid to take me off it... what do u recommend?

Sometimes you need to run away just to see who will follow you.

Sometimes when I say "I'm okay", I want someone to look me in the eyes, hug me tight and say "I know you are not".

Just because I'm smiling doesn't mean I'm happy.

Sounds like orthostatic hypotension. Are you taking any other medications? Do you get dehydrated? Has your doctor checked other hormone levels (cortisol, aldosterone etc.), labs to determine other causes? Let me know how you make out.

Dehydration could cause those symptoms. Speak with your medical doctor about why you are getting dehydrated. Is it lithium related or not? Let me know how you make out.

How do i know if it's lithium related or not? My lithium level is .7 isn't this on the low side?

Ask your doctor to check your kidney function on Lithium. Are you urinating a lot from Lithium which is causing dehydration?

Yes I am going to the bathroom a lot but I always thought it's cuz I'm drinking so much.... If I'm not mistaken my kidney is ok.

Ask your doctor to check for diabetes insipidus or any other medical causes for dehydration.
