I am on 100 mg luvox and was on 10mg anafranil- was on this dosage as the side effects were tolerable, but now my ocd has spiked a bit so im going back up to 200mg luvox and 25mg anafranil until i feel better- what i was wondering was if it was risky to keep going up and down on these things in the sense they may not work as well as before if u go back to ur original dose.

also, why does anfranil work for me at 25mg when its mixed with luvox when on its own at much higher doses it didnt work

Luvox inhibits the less active metabolite of Anafranil so you end of getting a higher Anafranil level of the more active Anafranil when you combine. With your doctor's consent, it is okay to temporarily increase for a period of time as needed.

Sorry to comment on a topic that doesn't really pertain to me, but I was just curious as to why the word "consent" is used. Usually I don't ask my doctor for permission/consent about medications, etc. - he makes suggestions and I just follow through after deciding whether I would like to follow his advice or not. Maybe I am looking at it the wrong way but I guess I go with the understanding I am seeing him to improve my health, and if I don't take his suggestions I'm really the only one who is at a loss. I don't mean to sound confrontational, just wondering your thoughts...

"Consent," meaning consult with your personal doctor first before making medication adjustments on your own.

Oh ok sorry didn't know what you meant. Actually I do this all the time, not taking medication for awhile, going back on it, taking random doses...I guess I just take my doctors advice as a suggestion!

now been on 200mg luvox and 25mg anafranil for a few days,
getting maybe a little more benefit- is the next step better to go higher on the luvox, which i find makes me irritable, or increase the anafranil, to get the best anti obsessional effect

Consider increase anafranil. Can check anafranil blood levels along the way. Let me know how you make out.
