Why is it so difficult to be happy? I'm working on myself to become a happier person and not see things so negatively but I'm finding it so difficult. I was able to do it for a couple of days but today I feel like something is pulling me down. I also feel like it's kind of fake because I'm like forcing myself to "be happy"... Any ideas why this is so difficult for me?

Sometimes you need to run away just to see who will follow you.

Sometimes when I say "I'm okay", I want someone to look me in the eyes, hug me tight and say "I know you are not".

Just because I'm smiling doesn't mean I'm happy.

I don't think people who are suffering from depression are essentially unhappy people. It is the sickness that causes sadness and negativity. Granted, one can try to help oneself with medication, therapy, exercise, eating right etc. But just because someone has depression or other mental illness does NOT mean they are "negative" or "unhappy" people at their cores IMHO.
I personally feel that if I can lick this thing with the right meds and perseverence, I will be a "happy" person who looks for the good in life and appreciates it. I think the same about other people including you, Toy. In the right time I believe it will come and you will feel REAL happiness.
