I am on 40mg of Paxil for OCD with 25mg to 50mg of anafranil
I am doing ok on this but I find whilst it's easy to get to sleep I wake up at 3am pretty much wide awake every night
I take a mild OTC Passion flower that kinda helps but i would love to sleep better
Would it be better to take my meds at night rather than in the morning as I have been doing
It's really frustrating to be wide awake yet again

Anafranil at night may help sleep. Let me know how you make out.

Hi the anafranil at night is helping me sleep so thanks but I only manage to take 25mg when it's prescribed at 50mg
The Paxil worked v well at 40mg for contamination fears until I suffered a setback recently
Is it now worth trying 60mg Paxil daily with taking 2 x25mg anafranil tablets at night for sleep

In you opinion does OCD usually require higher doses of ssri
In your opinion is it usual for OCD symptoms to wax and wane for rest of life. just when I feel I've cracked it severe stress can set me right back to square one

Yes and yes. I like the book, Brain Lock, by Schwartz to help break the cycles.

I have been prescribed 50mg paxil now and I wanted to know as a medical doctor, do you think hypnotherapy can help- the hypnotherapist uses CBT within the hypnotherapy I fancy trying it

Thanks ,one more question, do you think its any coincidence when my OCD is at its worst in terms of PURE-O, I get this headache in virtually the same spot of my head every time, is that possibly one of the physical signs that there is some kind of excessive firing in that part of the brain

Not specifically a part of the brain but there is a correlation between mental and specific physical symptoms in general.

Do you sometimes get worse before you get better when you increase your dosage?

I have been taking a half pill(Mirtazapine) for the last week.
I am feeling significantly better.
I do worry about having a relapse.

Hi
I started taking inositol
However I am at Paxil 50mg and whilst ocd comes and goes I am feeling anxious
Is it worth going up to 60mg
I also take anafranil 25mg but in my mind that's to help sleep
What are your thoughts of me lowering the Paxil and introducing something for the anxiety
I have read about pregbalin (lyrica) and neurontin (gabapentin)
I really would want to stop the clomipramine though as don't want to be on three diff drugs

Speak with your doctor regarding these changes. Paxil can be increased to 60mg and possibly 80mg as needed/tolerated for OCD and anxiety. Gabapentin/Lyrica can help the anxiety but not so much the OCD. Let me know how you make out.
