Is it possible for someone to be in constant pain and want to die and it be totally rational???? I have had it -- from constant neck issues, to cysts on the ovaries, to migraines -- EVERYTHING seems to hurt. This is a crazy situation. I don't want to take pain meds so often -- I'm REALLY nervous about addiction. Is it possible to have a rational reason to want to die???? Why doesn't the state i live in support it??? I know halacha won't come to terms with it, but so be it. I'm in too much physical pain -- not to mention emotional pain.

Does no answer mean that I'm right?

I thought I answered this one previously. Perhaps it did not go through? Yes, one can be in such pain that there is a rational desire to die so as to end the pain. Of course, halacha forbids taking a life. Palliative care seeks to help alleviate the pain so as to reduce the urge to die. Being dependent on pain meds that work is better than dying according to most states' law.
