I am asking for help in finding someone to help me.
I have suffered from severe depression/anxiety for about 7 years. I was on medication for 3 years, off for 2 years, I am on medication again, but at this point I need therapy to help me deal with the mood swings and depression. I also need marital counseling since this has greatly affected my marriage.
I do not have insurance, only Medicaid. But will pay if no other choice.
I live in Upstate NY.

Who do I call??Or rather who should my husband call because I don't have the courage to do it.

I feel I need someone strong, not someone to just comiserate with me, and tell me that it is all due to a difficult childhood. I have been in therapy 3 yrs ago and have dealt with my past.. I need to live for NOW. Not dwell on the past. I have 6 kids that need a mother. My oldest is 14 and is very affected by my condition.

Thank You for your help.
Lucky,

I usually advise people in your situation to contact ECHO, a high quality referral agency in Rockland County, NY.
Mention that you are looking for someone who can do couples and individual psychotherapy as well as psychopharmacology. ECHO's number is (845) 425-9750.

Let me know how you make out.

I have called ECHO, but the only one they could recommend (Stauber) charges more than we can pay. Is it worth it going to him even if I know I can go only once or twice?? Or should I try to find something I can afford long term??

Hi Lucky,
There is a place in Rockland County called VCS. (volenteer counseling service)
They have excellent therapists at either no charge or minimum fee ($5).

There are some frum therapists working there.
I have heard very good things about this service. You might want to try it.
I will try to get the number for you tommorow.

Try Monsey Family Medical Center at (845) 352-6800 and ask for "Family Care of Rockland," which is their mental health department.
