Hearing good news can be therapeutic.

In today's news: it seems very likely that the u.s. and it's allies will attack syria's chemical gas capability.

This is wonderful news for the yidden in Israel, and for the entire world.

It shows that the world understands the need to protect people.

We see more and more how G-d is protecting the Jewish people.
Perhaps moshiach is very close.

Thanks.

On Sunday top generals from the u.s. and other countries met in Jordan to discuss and coordinate military options against syria.

It says that the month of Elul is an auspicious time, when G-d is like a king who goes out into the field, and everyone is allowed to greet him, and he receives everyone with a pleasant face, and he shows a smiling face to all.

It is in this auspicious time when, by Divine Providence, nations are planning to take action that will protect israel.

The Syrian episode seems to be part of a pattern, where, over the years, Israel's enemies are being eliminated and/or weakened, and new alliances being formed.

Even egypt recently seems to be cooperating and coordinating more with israel.

Perhaps the days of true peace, and the era of moshiach, is very close.

in today's news, scientists grew mini human brains from stem cells.
This can lead to understanding how brains develop, and can lead to cures for disorders like schizophrenia and autism.

the scientists already used the method to produce a biological model of how a rare brain condition called microcephaly develops.

The human brain is too complex to analyze. But the lab-produced mini brain can help scientists see how things develop at the early stages, and this can help them find cures.

At first glance, things appear scary. Syria has warned that it will retaliate. Israelis are rushing to get gas masks.
Many analysts are confident that syria won't attack, because Israel would hit back hard.
But still, people are worried.

22 years ago there was a similar occurrence. Iraq was attacked, and they retaliated with scuds. Israel was worried that Iraq would use chemical warfare, but that didn't happen. And although the scuds caused much property damage, miraculously there was negligible bodily damage to Israelis.

Before the scuds fell, the Lubavitcher rebbe quoted a Medrash that predicted that war. In the Medrash, G-d assured the Jewish people that they have nothing to fear, and everything was being done for their benefit.

Since then the pattern seems to have continued, where dictators were overthrown, and many of Israel's enemies have been eliminated or greatly weakened.
Since this seems to be a continuation of a pattern that started 22 years ago, we can assume that the Medrash also applies for our time; and that we have nothing to fear, and that G-d us doing everything for our sake.

The Medrash connects the above to the coming of moshiach.
May we soon merit to see the true and complete redemption, the geulah sheleima, with moshiach tzidkeinu.

It says that in the geulah, there will be no more sickness etc.

Maybe this is how it will happen (from a natural, teva aspect) where discoveries like these will help to prevent sickness, and cure people.

And the effort to try to work things out.

May Hashem also accommodate us for a good and sweet year.

We live in a time of tremendous technology.
Computers connect people instantly.
Medicine is poised to find an abundance of cures.

We live in a time of increasing sensitivity.
People are becoming much more sensitive and understanding of others. This is reflected in the many news articles (also in Jewish newspapers) which discuss numerous human challenges.

We live in a time when everyone, even non-Jews, feel that there has been monumental changes; and even non-Jews anticipate that something great is about to happen.

We live in a time when moshiach seems to be so close.
May we merit to see the true and complete redemption now.

Amein.
There's a saying in Yiddish, Moshiach zoll shoin kumen, un inz alle gefunnen.
It means, Moshiach should come, and we should be alive and well to greet him!!!!

"Inz alle gefunnen" can mean, besides being there physically, that we should also be aware and in tune.

The prophets spoke about moshiach.

Yeshayahu describes a time of peace.

Daniel predicted what it will be like. He even wrote dates, when things will happen.
An angel told Daniel to obscure the info, so that it should not be readily understandable.

These days, beside all the world changing events that are happening, we can also see how many of the prophecies, including daniel's, seem to be happening.

This gives added encouragement and optimism about moshiach.

May we all see the true and complete redemption now.

A Van Gogh painting has been discovered.
The owner had been told that it was a fake, so he kept it in his attic for many years.

Experts found a letter that van gogh wrote to his brother theo. in which he describes the painting which he had painted the previous day – July 4, 1888.

“At sunset I was on a stony heath where very small, twisted oaks grow, in the background a ruin on the hill and wheat fields in the valley,” Van Gogh wrote.

“It was romantic…the sun was pouring its very yellow rays over the bushes and the ground, absolutely a shower of gold.”

But then Vincent confessed that the painting was “well below what I’d wished to do,” and later he sent it to Theo to keep.

Museum director Axel Rueger, at an unveiling ceremony in the museum, described the discovery as a “once-in-a-lifetime experience”.

"May it be G-d's Will that He build the beis hamikdosh quickly in our time, and that our lot be in His Torah."
And, as you write, may it come peacefully.

Looks like the Syrian crisis will be solved nicely.

The plan is to remove and destroy the gas.

Good for Israel, and good for the world.

After the government of Quebec announced that it would pass a law banning religious symbols (including yarmulkes) in government employment, the Canadian government said it would lead a legal battle against this law.

The other two federal parties joined with the Canadian government in protesting the religious discrimination.

We see again how G-d is fighting our battles for us.

It seems that this is quebec's way of starting a fight which, they hope, can eventually lead to a vote for a seperation from Canada.

The Lubavitcher rebbe once said that it would be a good thing for Quebec to have independence.

I'm thinking that, maybe, the reason why it would be a good thing, is because right now many French-speaking people in Quebec resent that they don't have their independence.
Once they achieve it, then everyone (including the rest of Canada) can be more at ease.

Baruch Hashem I just found out this morning that my disability payments will be continuing! This is wonderful news. Now I can have peace of mind that I will be able to cover my rent.
I hope we all have more good news to share this year with Hashem's help.

By the way Gad, I just want to point out (as a native Canadian that Quebec has been threatening and fighting to secede from the rest of the Canadian provinces for decades already.
Maybe this latest development is Mashiach's footsteps.

The potential is very good, since it's now possible to completely remove the gas.
And syrian's threat of retaliation (for American missiles) is eliminated.

In the news:

Global-warming scientists admit that they got it wrong.
(So now there's more hope for the world, and we don't need to be so paranoid about what we do.)

Scientists say that the Big Bang theory is wrong.
(Makes it easier for people to accept that G-d created the world.
Perfect timing for the reading of breishis (in the beginning...) on simchas torah.)

Chag someach

Egypt banned the Muslim brotherhood, which has always been very anti israel.

Egypt has already arrested many brotherhood leaders, and can now legally confiscate the brotherhood's assets, and take further steps to crush it.

A new study found that e readers can help many people with dyslexia.
When there are just a few words on each line, many were able to read quicker and comprehend better.
As e readers become used more, it can help many students in school etc.

It says that G-d created the cure for every illness, before He created the illness.
It's just a matter of discovering the cure.
