Is borderline real? Maybe its just a label used to identify someone whos very sensitive and has grown up in an unhealthy environment. I was diagnosed with bpd bit who says that means i have to be labeled? Why cant i just be an individual, a human with feeligs and emotions, with depth and sensitivity, who was neglected as a child. Why so i have to be diagnosed with a disorder because of that? Im confused.

I agree with you one hundred percent!!
There are many well respected psychologists and psychiatrists who don't recognize all theses various disorders because it just describes symptoms while neglecting to take into account the real underlying problems -like neglectful childhood etc.

I personally don't think your problem is BPD!
Your problem is that you had a tumultuous and emotionally unhealthy upbringing.

And the simple fact is that almost no one can be put into a single box. Do you not also have depression? Or maybe since your anxious about getting better you really have Generalized Anxiety Disorder??!

If someone tried diagnosing me they might be able to give me 10 different things starting with major depressive disorder to Seasonal Affective Disorder...

Whether bpd is or isn't real is a good question. I believe that even if you were diagnosed with it in the past, but you feel it's not real, it may very likely have been the wrong diagnosis for you.

Personally, I've been diagnosed with bpd at some point but it never felt right. It was no use fighting the diagnosis, though, because unfortunately when it comes to bpd there's a lot of stereotyping and it's hard to find professionals who are willing to look past the label. Eventually I saw a psychiatrist who finally got it. I ended up being diagnosed with bipolar II instead. While bipolar is not fun either, at least I know what I'm dealing with.

I'm sorry you feel troubled by your diagnosis. It seems like you don't see eye to eye with your doctor/therapist about it. Maybe next time you see them ask: what is it you see in me that warrants this diagnosis? Maybe from there you'll get some idea of their logic behind it.

I know it's hard to come to terms with things like this. I don't have a personality disorder but from what I heard it can be hurtful to hear things like this.
