A poem I wrote when my Down Syndorme son was born.

Sunshine, Sunshine, where have you gone?
Gone forever, disappeared without a trace
How can life as we know it ever go on?
Only dark clouds can be seen in your place.

Oh how we will miss your very bright light
Almost everything we know, on you depends
Energy, light, heat, and especially our eyesight
In addition, your shine the broken heart mends.

How have you left us here all alone?
Who will warm us when we are cold?
Who will make sure the plants are fully grown?
Who will ripen the fruits, ready to be sold?

Don't despair my earthly friend
Here I am! Can't you find me?
It's the sunshine calling you from the other end
My shine never disappears even if you can't see.

Let me try to clarify the confusion
Sometimes clouds appear between me and you
The results - an optical illusion
And you wonder, where has the sunshine gone to?

Even when total darkness and night appear
When it seems the sun has forever died
The sun always shines, have no fear
Just ask the people on earth's other side.

If the day seems so dark
To Hashem direct no blame
Doing so would be missing the mark
His kindness is there, always the same.

If the times don't look so bright
The problem is surely with our line of sight….

Sometimes we can appreciate how the cloud covering is a blessing.

It's brought down that an eclipse can be a bad omen.

But eclipses can be forecast by astronomers. So it would seem to be a natural thing.

An answer given is that it is a bad omen if we see it. But if a cloud blocks our view, then it isn't a bad omen.

So here's a case where we can clearly see how the clouds are blessings.
