I WAS LEFT LEGALLY BLIND BY OPTIC NEURITIS CAUSED BY CHEMICAL FUMES 10 YEARS AGO. THE DOCTORS LEFT ME IN A VERRY DARK WORLD, BUT I HAVE MADE SOME GAINS USING ALTERNATIVE MEDICINES. THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS THAT I AM LOOKING FOR.
1. SUGGESTIONS ON THERAPIES WHICH MIGHT BE OF HELP.
2. SUGGESTIONS ON VISUAL AIDS WHICH MIGHT BE OF ASSISTANCE.
3. TO HELP OTHERS WHO ARE BLIND

SUGGESTION: THIS FORUM MIGHT DO WELL WITH A TOPIC SPACIFICALLY DEALING WITH THE RESULTING VISUAL IMAPAIRMENT AND BLINDNESS. THIS TOPIC IS COMMON TO MOST EYE SITUATIONS AND PEOPLE IN THIS SITUATION CAN HELP EACH OTHER REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE ACTUAL MEDICAL CONDITION IS WHICH BROUGHT THIS ABOUT.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN THROUGH ALOT AND ARE A FIGHTER (I READ YOUR OTHER POST.)
UNFORTUNATELY ER'S RARELY HAVE SPECIALISTS SUCH AS OPHTHALMOLOGISTS ON STAFF.
YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER SEEING A NEURO-OPHTHALMOLOGIST IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO. NOT MUCH THEY CAN DO NOW, BUT ONE SHOULD NEVER GIVE UP. IF ANY OF THE DAMAGE WAS TO THE CORNEA THEN THIS MAY BE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE IMPROVED IF YOU SEE A TOP CORNEAL SPECIALIST.

OVERALL, I THINK YOU WILL GET THE MOST HELP FROM A DR WHO SPECIALIZES IN LOW VISION. THIS WILL HELP YOU MAXIMIZE THE VISION THAT YOU DO HAVE TO HELP YOU IN YOUR EVERY DAY FUNCTIONING IN A HUGE WAY. (NOTE THAT THEY WILL HAVE MANY LOW VISION AIDS THERE THAT YOU CAN TRY, TO SEE WHICH HELP YOU THE BEST.)

I HOPE THIS HAS HELPED SOME. MUCH HATZLAOCHA

Dear Everyone,

Please try not to SHOUT (using only upper case lettering). It is hard to read and seems intimidating.

Thanks,

B"H

THANKS CHANIEF
YOU'RE RIGHT, AL CAPS IS MUCH EASIER FOR ME TO READ DUE TO MY EYE CONDITION.

WE'VE CHECKED INTO OPTICAL NEUROLOGISTS AND LOW VISION SPECIALISTS ALREADY. I WAS HOPING TO FIND SOMETHING NEW ON THE MARKET WHICH IS NOT WIDELY KNOWN THAT I MIGHT CHECK INTO. I'VE OFTEN FOUND THAT BRINGING IDEAS TO DOCTORS IS MUCH BETTER THEN WAITING TO SEE WHAT THEY COME UP WITH.

Please excuse my duplication...this is my first time on this site.

You say exposure to chemical fumes. what fumes?
what initial treatment was given?
you also say the doctors left me in a very dark world. This sounds like you have negative feelings towards THEM. Can you elaborate?
