B'H, I have a wonderful family. Great husband, great kids. Gave up my job years ago to raise my kids and I don't regret it at all.

Except my kids are getting older now and I'm not adjusting well. Can't go back to my old job because I'm out of touch AND am lucky enough to not have to work full time. Haven't been able to find a part time job that pays enough to make it worthwhile. Not good at volunteering, Bikur Cholim, that kind of stuff.

I'm so happy to have been able to devote so many years to my kids. But I need to do something for ME now. And I don't know what. Or how to go about it. Just know that I'm wasting my time right now. I'm trying to put the word out on the street that I'm looking for a job. I daven for guidance, inspiration. But right now, I'm just not happy.

Suggestions, anyone?

maybe learn something new or take up a hobby. like painting, sketching or a new language. (you can check out local classes, such as those at your local commmunity college.)

I think I need more than just a hobby. Want to make myself (and my family) proud. Do something that matters

What about going to school? Finding something that you have a passion for and study further?

I appreciate all the helpful suggestions. Really.

But it's not just about filling up my day - it's about accomplishing something.

Yes, I could go back to school. But it needs to ultimately end up in a part time career. Don't want to invest all that time in school, just to find out I need to work full time to break in.

And before anyone suggests it, don't want to be a teacher. Or a secretary.

Who knows? Maybe I'm over-thinking the whole thing.

Just know that at the end of the day I don't feel accomplished.

A friend of mine went back in her 50's to do social Work, she's loving it.

I don't even know how to begin finding something. Finding out what I want to do.

Feel so unbelievably alone and unhappy and don't know how to fix this.
