We are trying to locate a list of frum schools for special kids (boys age 10 and up). We are interested in anywhere in America. Anyone out there that can assist us?? We are looking for a child who is middle/high functioning "mentally retarded", with high social skills and low academics. It can be within a yeshiva or on its own. We would also be interested in joining a support group for families with special kids, especially in some form of support for siblings, special trips etc.

Chush in Williamsburg is one as i ByWy Williamsburg. In New Jersey there is a high school in Edison and I forget its name. HASC also has programs. Yachad NCSY is a good group for kids and Chai Lifeline has great support for kids and families as well as siblings.

Yeshiva Bonim Lamokom in Brooklyn is primarily for boys and bochurim (ages 9 - 18) with Down syndrome and developmental delays. If you are interested in more info you can call the yeshiva directly at 718-693-9032 and speak to Tali, the wonderful secretary, Monday through Friday. Good luck. S.S.

In Monsey, Ny there is a great school, Ohr V'daas that works with each child to reach their potential. My brother goes there and my parents are amazed at how much he accomplished especially since they were told that he possibly won't be able to speak let alone learn! He now davens from his siddur proudly and learns chumash! he's approaching his Bar mitzva and my parents are shepping nachas!!!
