How is Yad HaChazakah-JDEC unique?

We’re unique because we are led primarily by
and for Jews of all ages who have obvious or
hidden disabilities. Since WE are the experts in
living with disability, we are often best suited to
support each other.

Serving Jews from a variety of backgrounds and
cultures, Yad HaChazakah-JDEC is run in accordance
with Orthodox precepts.

We can work with Jews with disabilities to empower
themselves to live, love, learn, work, worship, and
strive toward leadership in their communities.

We provide:
Personal coaching
Peer networking and support
Advocacy and resource navigation
Thought-provoking and informational topical workshops
Disability awareness and policy advisement.

Disability can become a part of anyone’s life at any age.
It should not stop us from being engaged in community
life, nor should it be something to hide from others. It’s
a challenge that all of us can meet with the right support,
improved access to our communities, and changes in
attitude toward those who have hidden or obvious
disabilities or health issues as well as toward their
loved ones.

On January 13, 2008, we encourage everyone who is
Disabled or has an interest in disability-related issues,
in our Jewish communities, to join us at our official launch
of this organization. We also need your input to be successful
in this effort. We'll share our personal successes with you
including what works and what doesn't. But we need you
to share your concerns and interests so that we can
be more effective as well!

Speakers:
Chava Willig Levy, renowned author and motivational
speaker, will be the keynote speaker, and will be joined by

Assembly Member Dov Hikind and other community
dignitaries. We will introduce the programs we now
offer and discuss plans for the future. Wheelchair
access and sign language interpreters will be provided.
We ask that requests for handout material in large print,
Braille, and other alternate formats be made by
Friday, January 4th.

Please RSVP early for planning purposes.
