There are many stages in toilet training and thereforre in the beginning you need to remind him to go every hour or two and he'll stay dry. eventually he'll learn the feeling on his own it takes some time!

Hi, I have worked with a number of children with DS who are learning or still working on perfecting the art of toilet training. Some methods that have worked for them are having a watch that beeps every hour or two (as a reminder) or making a schedule where after certain activities, the child knows that he has to try using the bathroom. For example, going right before school starts, mid-morning, going around lunch/recess time, once in mid-afternoon, and after school. Eventually, this will become routine and the child will learn his own body to know when he has to go or does not. Hatzlacha!
