And the results from my endoscopy are in: "one" of the unusual conditions the doctor diagnosed was eosinophilic esophagitis. Apparently this is a fairly new recognzed disease in adults and it takes place in the esophagus. I was having difficulty swallowing and thought I may be allergic to some food. Fortunately, I have an excellent relationship with my doctor, who treats my Crohn's disease, so I immediately alerted him to the problem and he recommended the scope to see what was going on. (I have been treated by him for almost 10 years and he is superb doctor and has managed my care in such a professional manner and with great competence).

My doctor has prescribed the Aciphex. Does anyone have any familiarity with this drug? I am also going to do some research on foods/alergies because there seems to be an indication that the inflamation may be caused by allergies to certain foods, althought food elimination tests appear to be an inprecise method of located the food(s) causing the condition. I know monitoring my diet has helped immensely with my Crohns.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks to both posters for the feedback. Much appreciated. I hope your families continue to experience only good, positive results.

I have been taking the medicine one a day in the morning since my initial post and I have had no adverse side-effects with the medicine. Also, it seems that my throat condition (where it sometimes felt as if my throat was closing and food was getting stuck in my throat when eating certain foods) has not happened since I started the medicine regularly. I am trying to be careful with my diet as well.

Has anyone else been diagnosed with Esinophilic Esophagitis? What were your original symptoms as I had not experienced any heart burn, but maybe I just do not know what it is?
